Robert J. Greenberg, M.D., Ph.D., is the Chairman of the Board of Second Sight Medical Products, Inc. (NASDAQ: EYES) in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Greenberg is a leader in the field of neural prosthetics – having developed and brought to market the world’s most advanced implantable neural stimulator, the Argus II visual prostheses, to treat retinitis pigmentosa, a form of blindness. He and his team at Second Sight are currently developing a cortical interface, the Orion visual prosthesis, which has the potential to eliminate nearly all forms of blindness. Dr. Greenberg is the recipient of numerous honors and awards including the Foundation Fighting Blindness Visionary Award, the Ophthalmology Innovation Summit Award, the Edison Gold – Science/Medicine Category, and the World Technology Award for Health and Medicine. He has over 260 issued US patents and over 100 international patents. He received MD and PhD degrees from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He is a founder of Campus Security, and Second Sight Medical Products, Inc., is Chairman of the Board of Directors at both the Alfred Mann Foundation and the Southern California Biomedical Council, and sits on the Board of Directors at Pulse Biosciences (NASDAQ: PLSE). In addition, Dr. Greenberg has published over 60 articles. He is a member of the New York Academy of Sciences, a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering, a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, and a Senior Member of IEEE.
